A well known Medical Center located in Brooklyn, NY has an immediate need for a Nurse Manager in Emergency Department

Job Summary
Nurse Manager Emergency Department assumes 24-hour responsibility for overall assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
Nurse Manager Emergency Department responsibilities include oversight and direction for the emergency department, and accountability for planning, directing, leading and evaluating nursing care within the department.
Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with all other healthcare team members.
Weekend and holiday coverage as needed is also a responsibility of the role as Nurse Manager.
Performs related duties as required.
Essential Duties
Operational Performance
Develops long-term unit staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs.
Develops measures and monitors unit operational performance metrics inclusive, agency and overtime costs, vacancy and turnover rates.
Oversees the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and development of employees within the department.
Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to the emergency department.
Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED and trauma patients.
Approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect and consideration.
Support and interpret policies, procedures, and objectives of the hospital.
Monitors customer satisfaction scores and implements plans to improve scores.
Monitors patient volume, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement.
Maintains a departmental dashboard that includes information and progress on people, service, quality, and leadership
Responsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints/concerns and works to resolve the aforementioned.
Maintains required competencies for self and all employees within the department.
Participates in a professional organization.
Clinical Practice/Patient Care
Collaborates with the CNO/SVP of nursing to establish nursing care standards and evaluates staff compliance.
Identifies protocols affecting the patient population served and keeps nursing staff informed.
Demonstrates self-development and keeps currents on a variety of clinical management and health care topics.
Maintains a safe and caring environment for patients, family and staff that is conducive to positive health teaching and maintenance; and develops mechanism to assess same.
Ensures equal access to treatment for all persons in need regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, or sexual orientation.
Management
Participates in the overall planning process for the service.
Conducts monthly meetings with the staff to address equipment, scheduling, goals, and objectives, performance metrics and improvement activities, and any staff concerns.
Human Resource Development/Management
Educates and evaluates staff.
Works with nursing leadership/Human Resources to counsel, discipline and terminate staff as needed.
Educates staff in new and existing department procedures and systems (eg. Information systems, etc.)
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of respect and courtesy toward patients, staff and colleagues.
Requirements
Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience of management and/or supervisory in the Emergency Department.
Demonstrates leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
Excellent creative skills, ideas to improve existing programs.
Ability to determine appropriate action in complex situations.
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling work.
Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner.

Master's Degree in Nursing.
Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
