Summary Of Essential Duties
- Under the direction of the Program Supervisor/Director, the Youth Support Counselor is responsible for helping to create a highly structured, professional, and nurturing environment for the youth served at facility.
- Youth Support Counselors are responsible for working with female youth between the ages of 14-17 years who have complex behavioral health challenges to support and provide services which are strength-based, family-friendly and trauma-informed.
- In conjunction with program treatment team, the Youth Support Counselor creates and delivers individual and group psycho-educational and life skills activities which promote the self-sufficiency traits, skill sets, habits and other assets.
- Youth are assessed in all areas of daily functioning to tailor services to each one's individual strengths and needs.
- The Youth Support Counselor also serves as a youth mentor/driver, providing transportation services as needed for program youth and reinforcing daily living and socialization skills.
- These are representative duties and responsibilities, and other assignments and tasks that may be assigned as required.
- A bachelor's degree in social work, Human Services, Psychology, or Counseling is required and a minimum of one year of experience working in a behavioral health or institutional setting.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, strong verbal and written skills, and respect for cultural and human diversity.
