What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Secretary position at Mitchell McNutt?
The candidate for this position will be successful if they are able to execute a variety of secretarial duties of a confidential nature. These tasks will include working with attorneys, paralegals and other members of the firm with a series of administrative functions. Therefore, the candidate will have to have effective time management and organizational skills coupled with the ability to be detail oriented.
Responsibilities
- Opening files, conducting legal research, drafting documents
- Keeping files organized by monitoring calendars, meeting deadlines, inputting information into file database and case management software
- First point of contact/representative for clients
- Filing documents with the court and entering data
- Taking dictation and transcribing documents
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school degree or above required
- Legal experience required
- Experience with bankruptcy and collections
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Self-starter, attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) required
