What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afternoon Shift - Paint Cell Leader position at Mitchell Plastics?
Duties & Responsibilities:
Team Support: Relieve painters during breaks and lunches as required by the supervisor. Provide training to new painters on paint techniques and spray patterns.
Documentation: Ensure accuracy and completeness of all required documentation, including Lot Numbers and Viscosity during paint mixing.
Efficiency & Quality: Promote efficiency improvements while maintaining high-quality standards. Foster continuous improvement efforts and communicate effectively with the next management level.
Cell Inspection: Conduct inspections of the cell before the team arrives to ensure all discrepancies from previous shifts are addressed.
Communication: Facilitate open and honest communication with Supervisors, the cell team, and other employees.
Safety: Ensure the safety of all cell members by reporting unsafe acts or conditions to the Supervisor and enforcing safety compliance.
Leadership: Promote pride in workmanship, urgency, consistency, and a positive team approach through leadership by example.
Housekeeping: Maintain aggressive housekeeping standards and promote organization without creating additional cleanup.
Maintenance: Ensure the Paint Preventative Maintenance schedule is followed, and the paint kitchen is clean and organized.
Inventory Management: Monitor paint inventory and waste levels, advising the supervisor of low quantities or the need for waste removal.
Preparation: Ensure paints are pre-mixed for the incoming shift and all paint equipment is in good working condition.
Quality Control: Complete spray-outs for quality checks, conduct paint trials, and set spray patterns for new programs.
Transition Management: Communicate specific duties and responsibilities for program changes to ensure smooth transitions.
Additional Duties: Oversee housekeeping in exhaust areas, centrifuge areas, paint kitchens, and mix rooms. Lead water maintenance activities, such as PH checks and centrifuge maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pass color perception tests.
Mechanically inclined with the ability to identify and use tools required for the position.
