What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing - Buyer (Plant Materials/Logistics) position at Mitchell Plastics?
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Buyer, based out of our Sterling Heights, MI location. This role will report to the Manager of Purchasing & Logistics at the plant level.
The Role:
Utilizes best practices for logistics departments across the Corporation and implements continuous improvement wherever possible
Drive materials planning process and inventory min/max management to avoid stockouts, expedites and overstocking
Provide direction to suppliers and release materials required for supporting production
Work with Plant Customer Service to ensure all Customer specific requirements are satisfied
Assist with physical inventories and conduct audits/cycle counts
Expedite required materials to support ongoing production
Meet inventory levels, min/max values, as set by team
Coordinate purchased part engineering changes with engineering team to minimize obsolescence
Our ideal candidate:
Has a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in Purchasing, Materials Management or Supply Chain Management in automotive environment
Has post - secondary education in Purchasing, Materials Management or Supply Chain Management
Understands bill of materials, contracts, terms, conditions, purchase orders
Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
Has advanced Computer literacy skills – Microsoft Office applications and knowledge of ERP systems
Complete understanding of the IAATF 16949 policies and procedures required for the Purchasing and Materials department
