Job Responsibilities & Requirements
What you will do:
- Define and Implement Data Strategy: Lead efforts to define and implement the data strategy for the organization, working closely with business stakeholders, developers, and teams to assess needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Design and Optimize Scalable Data Pipelines: Build and optimize data pipelines using modern ETL/ELT tools while ensuring compatibility with existing systems and business requirements.
- Data Architecture and Integration: Design and implement data models, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring seamless integration with both new and legacy data sources.
- Support and Enhance Existing Systems: Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and enhancements to existing database solutions, including SQL Server environments and legacy applications.
- SQL Development: Write, review, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers to support both operational and analytical needs.
- Problem Solving and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to database performance, data integrity, and system outages, supporting both new and legacy systems.
- Leadership and Innovation: Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in data management. Lead initiatives to implement these improvements in both new and existing projects.
- Documentation and Training: Document processes, architectures, and best practices; provide training and support to team members on new technologies and legacy systems.
- Customer Collaboration: Work with the customer service team to address data-related issues raised by external customers, ensuring high-quality, reliable data solutions are delivered
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or a related role with a focus on defining and implementing data strategy.
- Extensive experience with SQL Server and Azure data technologies.
- Proven experience in leading large-scale data transformation efforts, from planning and design to implementation.
- Advanced proficiency in T-SQL, including complex queries, performance optimization, and advanced features like triggers and stored procedures.
- Strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions, specifically within the Azure data platform.
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or R for data manipulation and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Strong ability to engage with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience using version control systems like Git.
