Pay Range: $60,000 - $75,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications

MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are looking for a Buyer Planner for our Temperance, MI location.
This position will be responsible for releasing purchase orders, monitoring, and managing inventories (approximately $12 MM annual spend comprised of approx.1000 SKUs) required to support Manufacturing. Daily interactions with suppliers will be required to ensure supplier execution and performance. Flexible hours are sometimes required in this position, specifically during the issue resolution process with a supplier. This position makes most decisions independently and involves the Materials Manager as exceptions occur. This position will not have direct reports. Business travel will be infrequent but occasionally necessary.

- Responsible for following the established process of purchase order placement and delivery confirmation to ensure an uninterrupted supply of material.
- Review material demand requirements against on hand quantities and vendor lead times, respond appropriately based on results of review.
- Routinely review inventory levels on the shop floor and issues replacement purchase orders as needed
- Ensure inventories are reasonable and adequate based on direction from Materials Manager and daily demand requirements from Manufacturing.
- Executing duties in the material replenishment systems that are triggered through visual management techniques such as Kanban. Participate in developing new processes to enhance the material replenishment system.
- Work with Suppliers to resolve quality and delivery issues as well as track compliancy.
- Identify the need for expedited deliveries and schedule accordingly.
- Participate in physical inventories and review counts for accuracy and viability.
- File purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accounting compliance.
- Validate purchase order price and invoice prices to ensure the correct prices are being charged.
- Participate in supplier negotiation and work toward overall lower total cost for the organization.
- Assist with daily cycle counts, month end and the year-end inventory process.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain or closely related field preferred. In lieu of degree, significant work experience and education will be considered at the company’s discretion.
- Prior experience in inventory control is preferred.
- This position requires the ability to operate a computer in a windows environment and have basic proficiencies in Word, Excel and Outlook. The ability to use and generate spreadsheets in Excel with basic formulas and functions will be required.
- Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, such as multi-line phone system, fax, copier, postage machine, etc. and normally requires the physical demands of sitting, sometimes for extended periods of time, standing, walking, bending, occasionally lifting up to 15 lbs., working on a computer, sometimes for extended periods of time or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, speaking clearly, especially when using the telephone, hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. Regular attendance in the office is required. When in the manufacturing plant, this position requires the ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, push and pull and climb on a ladder on occasion as inventories reviews or related projects are being performed.
