Department Summary:

MITRE’s Secure Enterprise and Cloud Architectures Department (L523) provides subject matter expertise and consulting to Federal Government sponsors in enterprise-wide security architecture, with specific emphasis on cloud computing, zero trust architecture, 5G, and networking technologies. The department advances the state of cyber security while leveraging the functionality and cost efficiencies of advanced architectures and technologies.

The department is part of MITRE Labs, MITRE’s foundry for innovation and disruptive solutions. MITRE Labs inspires breakthroughs in applied science and advanced technology to transform the future of U.S. scientific and economic leadership. Members of this department serve as trusted advisors to the top technical leadership in the organizations they support, including Chief Information Officers, Chief Information Security Officers, and program management leadership, and assist in addressing their most critical security challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver innovative and secure architectures, solutions and strategies for enterprise IT and the cloud for government customers.
• Conduct security assessments of cloud environments to identify vulnerabilities and risks.
• Collaborate with senior government officials, providing technical and strategic advice to cyber challenges identified by the government.
• Apply knowledge of network architectures, security technologies, zero trust and cyber threats to provide customers the ability to protect, detect, and respond to cyber-attacks directed against customer systems.
• Keep current with latest enterprise and cloud security technologies, trends and regulations.
• Leverage your vision and expertise to advance the state of the art in the use of AI/ML and zero trust to improve the security posture of government systems.
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Information Systems, or related field with 10 years of related experience; a Master’s degree with 5-10 years related experience; or a PhD with 2-7 relevant years of experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Advanced knowledge of and experience applying cyber security principles in large organizations.
• Advanced knowledge of and experience designing and applying cloud, networking, and/or enterprise architectures in large organizations.
• Ability to lead and work with others to solve challenging technical problems.
• Experience in process design/improvement and application with technical concepts into comprehensive strategy.
• Experience with cybersecurity technologies and tools, trends, and emerging capabilities.
• Knowledge of industry current and future cyber security strategies, concepts, and technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences to include government senior executives.
• U.S. citizenship required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret level security clearance.
• This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, or NCSF.
• Experience with certification and accreditation processes, to include security engineering and security architecture, as well as implementing processes for enterprise architectures in the intelligence community.
• Experience working with current Risk Management Framework related policy guidance and related legacy policy guidance, including NIST RMF, NIST CSF, DoD 8500, CNSSI Instructions, Cybersecurity Executive Orders, NIST SP 800 Series instructions, and NISPOM.
• Experience implementing, developing, or managing systems using one of the predominant Cloud Service Providers.
• Experience with implementing or managing security incident and event management (SIEM) tools and security data lakes.
• Experience with zero trust strategy, architecture, implementation, and operations.
• Knowledge of US Government enterprise and network security concepts and solutions.
• Top Secret clearance.
