Entry level Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is responsible to support the company safety and health management system, environmental management system, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. The HSE Specialist is also responsible for implementing and supporting the company KAITEKI and sustainability goals and objectives.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DEQ regulations and corporate HSE standards.
- Implement and audit compliance with Company and Site HSE standards and policies.
- Work closely with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team and manufacturing leaders to drive safety improvement programs, objectives, initiatives, and projects.
- Conduct routine safety walk throughs, safety audits and advise leadership on proper course of action relating to compliance with OSHA, corporate and site safety rules.
- Assist with job safety analysis, near miss and incident reporting/investigations, root cause analyses, management of change, job task assessment, and procedure review.
- Develop, schedule, and conduct safety training programs for new and current employees as well as contractors.
- Maintain company and vendor Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Update chemical inventory as required.
- Coordinate regular emergency preparedness and response drills and practice activities.
- Monitor special condition permits including hot work permits and confined space.
- Maintain required records including OSHA logs, safety metrics and communicate these as necessary to the site population.
- Maintain environmental reporting and compliance programs.
- Responsible for sustainability reporting and development of relevant KPIs.
- Drive awareness of sustainability vision and strategies. Participate in the regional sustainability network.
- Drive company waste minimization efforts to achieve goal of zero waste to landfill.
- Bachelor's degree in Safety/Environmental Science or related technical discipline or 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Involvement in safety work processes or in a direct role relating to HSE.
- Ability to work flexible work hours to accommodate the needs of the manufacturing organization.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to effectively communicate with people on all levels within the organization.
- Ability to enforce safety standards and requirements.
- Intermediate analytical and computer skills.
- Must be well organized, able to prioritize, and follow through in a timely manner.
- The salary range for this position is starting at $64,896. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
