What are the responsibilities and job description for the Costing and Projects Specialist position at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc.?
Review and develop cost estimates for service scopes of work on projects, maintenance contracts, and extended warranties for the Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD). Oversee select projects from quotation through execution, serving as a liaison across CPSD Departments, customers, vendors and contractors.
Essential Functions- Work with CPSD’s National Sales and Inside Sales Departments to review service scopes of work associated with new equipment sales and develop estimates for all applicable costs.
- Work with CPSD’s Inside Service Sales Department and Outside Service Sales Managers to review service scopes of work for select-service projects and contracts.
- Prepare analyses and facilitate reviews of actual costs, involving key internal partners, to generate lessons learned as well as continuous improvement of estimation techniques and cost optimization.
- Serve as the Service department’s liaison and lead partner for complex new equipment and service-specific projects as assigned. Participate and schedule project meetings when applicable.
- Collaborate with MEPPI Corporate and internal CPSD partners to maintain accurate expense averages.
- Prepare and maintain tools to generate service pricing based on costs, target margins and other established parameters.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to CPSD Inside Sales and National Sales regarding service cost drivers and estimation practices.
- Collaborate with Outside Service Sales Managers and Field Service Manager to source and identify strategic service suppliers and maintain working knowledge of competitor costs and/or prices.
- Generate margin projections associated with service bookings.
- Collaborate with Service Product Line Manager, Inside Service Manager and Field Service Manager for project-specific LOA approvals and service level agreement approvals.
- Observe field service work as required to maintain ongoing expertise in service scopes of work.
- Create and maintain service opportunities in Salesforce as required.
- Prepare and submit reports as assigned.
- Further the goals and positive professional image of CPSD through effective interaction with customers, vendors and internal departments.
- Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a business or technical field with at least 5-7 years of experience performing hands-on service of electrical/electronic/mechanical systems, or equivalent education and experience.
- Intermediate knowledge of negotiations techniques to assist in negotiating terms and conditions with customers.
- Advanced interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, sales channel partners, and vendors.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on MS Office products and business systems.
