Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories (MERL) invites qualified postdoctoral candidates to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 3D Computer Vision. This position provides early career scientists the opportunity to work at a unique, academically-oriented industrial research laboratory. Successful candidates will be expected to define and pursue their own original research agenda in 3D computer vision, explore connections to established laboratory initiatives, and publish high impact articles in leading venues.
The expected appointment for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow is 2 years and may lead to subsequent full-time employment at MERL. In any case, the position is more valuable as a stepping stone to a future career in academia or industrial research than a postdoctoral position at a university.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Conducting innovative and relevant research in 3D computer vision,
- Developing a research agenda impacting the scientific community, with some relation to MERL projects,
- Publishing results in leading technical journals, conferences, and in patent applications,
- Collaborating with research staff.
Qualifications for this position are:
- A Ph.D. from an internationally-recognized institution in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or other fields related to computer vision.
- Prior published research in 3D computer vision, in areas such as structure-from-motion, SLAM, and neural implicit representation.
- Strong publication record demonstrating independent and innovative research achievements, in top tier computer vision venues such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, IJCV, NeurIPS, and ICLR.
- Excellent coding skills in Python or C .
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
