Position is Hybrid and located in the Norwalk, CT Office.
Position Overview:
Responsible for assisting the senior origination and credit teams in structuring, underwriting, negotiating, and documenting new business transactions for Structured Finance products, which include private credit/senior debt, clean energy and technology infrastructure project finance, and large ticket equipment leases based on the credit guidelines and risk levels determined by senior management. This position will work closely with the sales staff to meet and understand the client’s needs and work with the credit and operations team to structure and close transactions in a timely manner.

- Accurately analyze, structure, and underwrite new business opportunities in accordance with established credit policies to mitigate potential credit risk.
- Work with credit staff to avoid administration risk while maintaining superior customer service.
- Always conduct themselves in a professional manner as they are promoting their own brand into the market in addition to MHCA Structured Finance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Have a clear understanding of MHCA’s credit policies and operational procedures to effectively communicate to prospects.
- Gather financial packages and effectively and timely identify quality prospects that fit the client profile for MHCA’s Structured Finance, Private Credit and SDG transactions.
- Support senior credit team with transaction due diligence, preparation of detailed prescreen and credit memorandums, and building detailed financial models.
- Work with sales and credit teams to effectively structure, underwrite and document new business opportunities, prepare, and present credit analyses to credit team for signature approval.
- Address prospect and credit issues to close and fund transactions.
- Work with documentation teams to onboard new clients for reporting requirements.
- Assist portfolio managers in reviewing credit amendment requests for existing clients.
- Review credit information for syndicated credits and maintain positive relationships with agent banks.
- Understand lending market as well as economic conditions which can impact client performance.
- Maintain relationship with Borrower’s management team, transaction advisors, or agent banks.
- Work with the sales team to review written proposals and help effectively negotiate and communicate benefits to client and trusted advisors.
- Identify areas to streamline the underwriting process and procedures.

- Underwrite and structure transactions for sales staff in accordance with credit policies.
- Control portfolio risk and mitigate loan loss to acceptable levels.

Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance, credit evaluation, financial modeling, collateral, and cash flow analysis.
- Knowledge of lease and loan products, senior secured credits, syndicated credits, loan structuring, and corresponding documentation.
- Ability to negotiate loan proposals and deal structures, while adhering to corporate objectives.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Understanding multiple industry dynamics and how economic conditions impact credit quality and structure.
- Responsibility and ownership of actions. Shows enthusiasm to team and keeps commitments to others.

Education and Experience:
- BS in Finance / Economics or equivalent experience.
- Formal credit training program.
- 5 years of experience in commercial or corporate lending or project infrastructure finance.
