Position Overview
The Senior Credit Analyst – Franchise is responsible for underwriting large ticket (generally $2,000,000 ) commercial credit applications across a variety of verticals, with a primary focus on Franchise (and more specifically, the Quick Service Restaurant industry). The position will approve transactions within their delegated authority and present other transactions to senior management. This role requires a high degree of independence, as the candidate will be expected to bring knowledge and expertise in the Franchise/Quick Service Restaurant segment to hit the ground running and make informed underwriting decisions with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

- Review credit packages for accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with all parties (both internal and external) in a professional manner via both phone and email.
- Underwrite and decision commercial credit transactions within delegated authority (to be determined based on experience). Primary focus on large ticket (generally $2,000,000 ) transactions within the Franchise vertical (and specifically Quick Service Restaurants), but also support all transactions within the Healthcare, Technology, Franchise, and Specialty Markets.
- Underwriting involves the spreading and analysis of financial statements and other relevant credit data/reports to determine the overall risk associated with the transaction.
- Underwrite and present transactions that exceed delegated authority to senior management.
- Research industries, markets, and equipment as needed.
- Perform ongoing covenant compliance testing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Act independently to assess and underwrite transactions, leveraging extensive industry knowledge to make sound credit decisions and recommendations to leadership.
- Obtain & analyze public and private information such as Dun & Bradstreet reports, Paynet reports, Secretary of State corporate name verifications, Credit Bureau reports etc.
- Review and spread financials/tax returns to provide formative analysis regarding performance and trends. Familiarity with Moody’s Financial/Risk Analysis is important to assist with underwriting analysis.
- Completion of covenant compliance testing.

- Well versed in interpreting commercial credit reports such as Dun and Bradstreet and Paynet as well as consumer credit reports.
- A strong understanding of financial statements (audits, tax returns, accountant prepared statements, etc.) and their analysis. This involves review of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement (and other supporting documentation) to determine the prospective customer's overall financial wellbeing and determining their capacity to repay.
- Knowledge of the Franchise industry, with a specific focus on Quick Service Restaurants, and how to properly underwrite and determine risk associated with these transactions. Beyond analysis of financial statements, this includes analysis of different franchises, enterprise valuations, appropriateness of borrower projections, deal structuring, establishing covenants, and judgment on the strength of ownership/management.

- Four-year bachelor’s degree with a major in finance or management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum ten years of equipment finance industry experience, with at least five years focusing on the Franchise/Quick Service Restaurant segment.
- Proven ability to independently underwrite and make credit decisions in the Franchise/Quick Service Restaurant industry, with a track record of successful transactions.
