About the role :

The Technical Publications Manager (TPM) ensures Parts, Service, & Operator Manuals (technical manuals) are available for MLA supported products. This may include coordinating with overseas counterparts on delivery of manuals or overseeing an authoring team according to project schedules. The TPM will work directly with internal departments to gather information, report status of technical manuals, and coordinate with MLA dealers to gather feedback and ensure necessary access to technical manuals. The TPM will work directly with vendors for translations, printing, and authoring, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. TPM needs to be highly organized, with strong communication skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a team environment, within a prescribed deadlines, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

What you will do :

  • Schedules and coordinates the publishing of technical manuals. Requires regular follow up and expediting with various external companies and internal departments such as technical writers, engineering, outside suppliers, etc. Must know where all projects are at all times. Oversees the release of technical documents to dealers (all channels), internal departments, and other ML companies.
  • Act as MLA application specialist and first line contact on publication application support and troubleshooting. Train employees or end-users on how to effectively use publication applications. Customize and configure applications to meet specific business needs and continuously assess and optimize their functionality. Work closely with IT and vendor to address technical challenges, implement updates, new integrations, and ensure the application's performance aligns with business goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement of technical manual request intake, stakeholder alignment, systems / tools, prioritization, reporting, metrics, project documentation, roadmaps, and vendor relationships to increase efficiency and output quality. Implement best practices for content reuse, version control, and content management systems. Evaluate and recommend new tools and technologies to enhance documentation
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the product support, engineering, production, and product safety teams for cross-departmental collaboration. Represent publications at program reviews, management meetings, and adhoc working sessions. Ensure that product changes, updates, and new features are communicated to appropriate technical manual source for necessary updates. Collaborate with product support to address common issues and improve technical manuals.
  • Budget and track expenses related to technical publications department that aligns with department goals and organizational objectives. Work with vendors to negotiate system change requests within set budget. Timely review of invoices and monitoring of departmental expenses.

When & Where :

  • Hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in office, 2 days remote). May be required to come into office more often during initial training period.

  • Qualifications

    What you need to have :

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, Technical Writing, English or equivalent.
  • 7-10 years of experience in technical writing, technical publication, or content creation.
  • Experience with a Content Management System (CMS)
  • Thorough understanding of the end-to-end content creation, publication, and localization process.
  • Experience working for a global company with overseas counterparts.
  • What would be nice to have :

  • Experience creating and maintaining serial specific parts manuals
  • Experience with Engineering PLM System (PTC Windchill / Creo) and ERP System (BPCS, SAP)
  • Professional certification in PMP, Scrum, and Agile
  • Authoring in XML experience
  • Experience working with a dealer network

  • The pay for this position ranges from $92,251 to $124,459 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and / or experience.
