The Project Risk Manager is an important member of the Commercial Operations and Risk Management group. Primary focus is providing support and guidance to Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) Project Execution teams related to risk identification and mitigation. The Project Risk Manager must be an expert on contract scope, schedule, and Ts&Cs and always be looking ahead to identify potential risks and opportunities and recommend steps to ensure overall project risks do not increase.
The Project Risk Manager also supports the proposal development process for new business working closely with the Commercial Operations team to incorporate lessons learned and assist with identifying and assessing high-risk terms and potential mitigation steps. The position reports to the Manager of Commercial Operations and Risk Management.
Job Summary
· Prepares and updates contract risk registers and summaries for all stakeholders during negotiations, upon award, and through project completion
· Interprets contract terms & conditions for EPC Project Team Members and supporting functions throughout execution
· Advises Project Team on compliance with contractual commitments to minimize project execution risk
· Identifies and tracks execution progress for changes to scope for potential change orders
· Collaborates with EPC Project Manager to minimize revenue loss and scope creep
· Works with and supports EPC Project Manager and Legal when notifications and/or amendments are required
· Works with EPC Project Manager to ensure timely notifications/communications with clients per contract terms
· Supports EPC Project Manager and others as needed for the resolution of sensitive client communications regarding claims, change orders, schedule adjustments and compliance issues
· Collaborates with Procurement to ensure required flow downs are included in subcontracts
· Supports proposal development process helping assess potential project execution risks and recommending mitigation strategies
· Assists with turnover from the project execution phase to aftermarket support phase and collaborates with Customer Service team regarding warranty or other claims
· Engages in process improvement projects as needed for efficient contract and project execution
Required Skills
· Project Management, scheduling, critical path analysis, legal/commercial Ts&Cs fluency, risk identification and mitigation
· Demonstrated ability to manage contract risks for complex equipment supply/construction projects
· Demonstrated prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within demanding time constraints
· Highly effective communication and influencing skills
· Power Industry and/or Gas Turbine experience preferred
· International experience and/or foreign language skills desirable
Education/Experience
· Business/Management degree
· Advance degree or relevant experience preferred
· Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) certification a plus
Additional Requirement
· Occasional domestic/international travel may be required (5%)
