What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Manager position at Mittelstaedt Sports and Marine?
Summary:
The Service Manager is responsible for developing and leading a strong service team, building and maintaining a customer base, and leading a profitable Service Department.
Essential Functions
- Develop a customer base with a high degree of customer satisfaction promoting repeat business.
- Recruit, develop, and energize quality technical staff.
- Measure Department profitability and efficiency monthly to meet department goals.
- Achieve CSI scores of ninety or more for all OEM’s.
- Measure Tech efficiencies monthly to calculate pay/bonus structure.
- Acquire and stay abreast of all vendors’ manufacturer policies and procedures related to recalls, troubleshooting, and other service issues.
- Achieve and maintain profitable and timely warranty department goals.
- Work with the Sales and Parts Departments, ensure timely scheduling and delivery of service commitments to customers.
- Resolve customer problems and complaints in a timely manner.
- Schedule service staff according to priority, availability of parts and/or equipment.
- Train technical staff to identify and resolve service issues.
- Document and report Service staff time off and sick days.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Three to five years of experience in hands-on service environment for small-engine, power sports vehicles, marine vehicles, or automotive.
- At least 2 years in a management role with direct reports.
- Experience with service management computer software required. Experience with Lightspeed EVO desired.
- Knowledge of servicing motorcycles, ATV’s, watercraft, boats and accessories required.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with employees and customers.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
