Early morning production baker that mixes, shapes, scales, and bakes all of our daily breads.
Description
Mix Bakeshop is a busy bakery and cafe in downtown Ashland. We feature freshly baked bread and pastries that are made in house, from scratch, using classic techniques and high quality ingredients. Our bakery also supplies our second cafe ReMix, and several wholesale accounts with our bread.
We value quality and strive to shine in all departments and as a team. We are looking for someone who can make a long-term commitment, as the training for the role takes several months.
This role works under minimal supervision and is ideal for someone who is knowledgeable, or very interested in naturally leavened bread and is quick to learn as every starter and process is a little different.
Schedule: Four 10 hour shifts with 3 consecutive days off
Wednesday & Thursday 3am-1pm
Friday & Saturday 5am-3pm
Job Description:
Duties for AM Bread Mixer and Bread Baker include, but are not limited to:
- Mix, Scale, Shape, and Bake different types of doughs for our retail cafes and wholesale accounts. (e.g. Baguette, Brioche, Ciabatta, and Sourdough.)
- Read and follow recipes and protocols for mixing all doughs
- Meet production and baking timeline targets
- Prep items needed for daily doughs (Brown butter, olives, mix-ins)
- Clean all equipment and dishes used throughout the day
Qualifications:
- Have 1 year or more of previous bakery/production kitchen experience
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be able to stand for 10 hours
- Regularly lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds
- Keep the working area clean and tidy and participate in deep cleaning duties as needed
- Have a general knowledge of math
- Have a valid Oregon Food Handler's Card
- Value efficiency
- Model healthy communication
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting wage is $17.75 with a minimum of 4$ an hour in tips. After training is completed, wages can be increased through transparent metrics.
