On-Call/Reserve Meals on Wheels Driver

POSITION OVERVIEW

Mizell Center is currently seeking applicants for an on-call, as-needed reserve Meals on Wheels Driver. Shifts become available both planned and at the last minute to cover employee vacations, absences or other needs. There is no guarantee of minimum hours, but on-call/reserve drivers in good standing are considered preferred candidates for future full-time opportunities.

This position requires food handling, driving, direct client interaction and teamwork, among other duties as outlined in the complete position description.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• HS diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
• A valid Class C CA driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of automobile insurance and a successful background check is required
• Minimum 6-months related experience, preferably in a MOW or similar program
• Experience working with older adults
• Comply with established safe work practices and attend all safety-related training provided or made available
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. daily, climb stairs and walk at a fast pace; a complete outline of physical requirements is available
• Exceptional listening skills and a collaborative working style
• Ability to be self-motivated and proactive, while knowing when to ask for support

CLASSIFICATION

Non-exempt hourly rate of pay, ON-CALL WITH NO SET HOURS. Early morning availability is essential.
