POSITION OVERVIEW
The Program Manager supports all aspects of Mizell Center’s Programs department. Primary duties include managing the technical infrastructure of Mizell’s programs; website registration postings, producing promotional materials; providing monthly programs reports and analysis; producing program promotional materials; supporting program social media postings. This position requires daily and frequent interaction with senior participants, workshop instructors and the general public, and includes providing direct production support and other related duties as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years related experience in program development, conceptual through implementation
- Experience working with older adults
- Experience managing, working with and coordinating volunteers
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues, members, workshop instructors and staff of other service agencies
- Excellent writing skills
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. daily, climb stairs and walk at a fast pace
- Exceptional listening skills and a collaborative working style coupled with adaptability and flexibility, high energy and the ability to prioritize
- Ability to be self-motivated and proactive, while knowing when to ask for support
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
- A valid CA driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of automobile insurance and a successful background check is required.
CLASSIFICATION
Non-exempt hourly rate of pay, full-time, 40 hours per week. Approximate and typical hours are 11:00AM to 7:00PM but will vary based on need and may include evenings and weekends.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may supervise volunteers, including individuals and project-related teams.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment within a senior center accessible to the public. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets, among others.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the responsibilities of this Job, the employee is required to speak and listen. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This is largely a sedentary role; however, regular physical movement is required, including the ability to lift 10 lbs., lift files and boxes, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
TRAVEL
Minimum travel within the Coachella Valley is required.
LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL PROFICIENCY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) strongly preferred. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages and other related accounting, financial and payroll entries.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
