What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Accountant position at Mizell Memorial Hospital?
Under the direction of the CFO, has the responsibility for performing all activities concerned with hospital accounting including budgeting, maintaining the general ledger, reconciling accounts, maintaining amortization schedules and month/year end closing procedures. Responsible for ensuring that hospital internal controls are adequate to safeguard the hospital’s assets and that systems are in place and functioning that will generate accurate financial reporting. Produces, analyzes, and interprets statistical and financial reports used to evaluate operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, and increased revenue opportunities. Works with auditors, tax preparers, and other professionals to ensure timely report/return filings. Assists the CFO in the daily business operations of the hospital. Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or closely related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years accounting experience with experience in healthcare accounting preferred. Good computer and mathematical skills are required. Must be highly organized and motivated. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication is a necessity. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
