SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing quality inspections, documenting results, assist in corrective actions, prepare for audits, and aid in the training of new technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compare products being run on each line with the production schedule to ensure proper products are being produced.
Perform specified inspection procedures on product in production such as viscosity, taste and color tests, data coding on cases and proper packaging.
Perform inspection on final packaged units as prescribed.
Report all rejected products to operator and shift supervisor and follow through until defect is corrected.
Place product on hold as necessary, fill out proper reports and give information to Plant Manager
Work closely with production employees, and Plant Manager to ensure problem resolution.
Pull product retention samples and perform specified inspection procedures on product such as content sediment.
Complete inventory transfer documentation for pulled samples.
Complete and file certificate of analysis documentation.
Use various lab equipment but not limited to:
Grind slide, spectrophotometer, weigh scale, intoxilyzer, hand tools, personal computer, auto titrator
Monitor GMP's and be observant for any food safety related issues.
Pull, check and ship out all customer and sales related samples.
Perform and document pest control checks.
Inspect, test and document results on incoming supplies and ingredients.
Perform and document results of lab testing.
Responsible for food product quality and safety.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
Associate degree in Applied Science is preferred
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years’ experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment preferred.
1 year experience in related field
HACCP preferred
Strong knowledge of computer systems including MS Office, WMS and ERP programs. Ability to learn new job-related software.
Advanced mathematics skills required ( counting accuracy, excel formulas etc.) .
Excellent attention to details and accuracy required.
Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
Great work attitude, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work overtime on short notice basis. Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.
Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.
Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50 lbs. with assistance.
