SUMMARY : The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for performing quality inspections, documenting results, assist in corrective actions, and prepare for audits, maintaining food safety programs and aid in the training of new technicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Verify products being run on each production line with the daily production schedule to ensure proper products are being produced.
- Perform validated quality procedures, monitoring & lab analysis on various products & packaging produced in production such as grain, acidity, taste, color, brix, alcohol, salt and turbidity and visual quality monitoring of coding on primary & secondary packaging.
- Report results to management team, identify food safety gaps in the process and perform corrective actions when necessary.
- Assist in approving batches and products to specific specifications.
- Place product on hold as necessary, fill out proper documentation and report back to management team.
- Work closely with quality manager, quality team, production manager, production supervisors, maintenance team and production employees to resolve problems.
- Pull product retention samples and perform specified inspection procedures on product such as content sediment. Complete inventory transfer documentation for pulled samples. Create, send and file "Certificate of Analysis" documentation. Review & approve incoming COAs from suppliers i.e. Ingredients and Raw Materials.
- Relieve quality technicians on both shifts during scheduled PTO.
- Assist the quality manager with the implementation & maintenance of the food safety system i.e. quality & food safety standards, regulatory standards, GFSI standards, HACCP and assist with third party audits.
- Act as back up for Label Coordinator as needed.
- Assist in training new Quality Assurance Technicians.
- Use various lab equipment including, but not limited to the following : spectrophotometer, scales, distillation unit, basic lab ware, thermometers, salt analyzer, NTU unit, computer, printers, and auto titrator.
- Monitor Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and report any food safety related issues to the management team.
- Pull, check and ship out all customer and sales related samples.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as required by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Responsible for food product quality and safety.
