Profitable, well-established manufacturer is seeking a Controls Engineer to be the site electrical and controls expert. As the Controls Engineer , you will report to the Maintenance Manager. Daily you will be responsible for the following tasks :
- Partner with production to maximize equipment efficiencies and reduce scrap rates via electrical modifications
- Assist with the completion of cost analysis, justification, specification and procurement of capital projects
- Troubleshoot PLCs and make needed modifications, partnering with OEMs for complex programming
- Perform electrical troubleshooting on lines and equipment
- Partner with team members to complete continuous improvement activities
- Work with vendors and partners on equipment issues
- Train and assist with the development of maintenance staff and electricians
- Complete root cause analysis related to any electrical equipment issues and implement countermeasures to eliminate future downtime
- Communicate with management on the status of projects and troubleshooting and complete needed documentation
- Other duties as assigned by management
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the production floor up to 80% of their day. Candidates should enjoy building relationships on the manufacturing floor, enjoy floor presence, work well within a team environment and have excellent communication skills. Qualified individuals will be enthusiastic, committed and eager to make a difference. REQUIREMENTS for the Controls Engineer :
1. Minimum of a high school diploma; a technical Bachelor's degree is highly preferred
2. At least five years of experience in a similar electrical engineering position within a manufacturing environment
3. Strong background troubleshooting and making modifications to PLCs
4. Experience with electrical troubleshooting, including servos, motors, sensors, wiring, etc.
5. Microsoft Office experience, including strong Excel skills
Skills preferred but NOT required :
1. Lean and / or Six Sigma methodologies
2. Continuous improvement accomplishments, including reducing scrap, minimizing downtime, increasing efficiencies, etc.
3. Strong mechanical aptitude
4. OEM experience
5. Project management, including budgets and timelines
6. Allen Bradley PLCs
7. Robotics and automation experience
