As a member of the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the industry we have the privilege of tailoring our store to meet our community needs. In addition to providing the community with their hardware needs we also sell lumber, fence, tack, fertilizer and Purina Feed.
General Summary
The Lumber Sales Associate must be able to work with DIY customers accurately estimating the correct material necessary for their projects and also must be able to work with Contractors providing the correct materials for larger projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Provide a positive representation of MJK Sales & Feed, Inc -Ace Hardware.
• Greet customers entering store and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are
leaving the store.
• Possess a friendly outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
• Possess a strong knowledge of lumber, flooring, cabinets and building materials.
• Assist with receiving, checking in deliveries ensuring shipments are correct.
• Operate forklifts and scissor lifts.
• Manage cash register and POS system.
• Assist with counting and maintaining inventory, and keeping the department neat, clean, orderly and safe.
• Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the store, yard, warehouse and equipment.
• Maintain proper training certifications to perform job duties such as forklift certification and propane fill
certification.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations, and take prompt corrective action concerning any potential safety
hazard.
• Participate in store meetings.
• Be professional in appearance and actions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
High School or GED equivalent.
Experience
1 to 2 years experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Standing, walking, lifting (up to 90lbs) and climbing.
Other Requirements:
Good verbal, written and math skills. Lumber, flooring and building material knowledge preferred. Construction background is a plus. Must be 18 years old or older.
Salary : $32,800 - $41,500
