The Retail Sourcing Manager Position
The Retail Sourcing Manager will serve as a critical link between design teams and overseas manufacturing partners. This role is responsible for ensuring that sourcing strategies align with product specifications, quality standards, and evolving market trends. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product development and supply chain dynamics, working closely with internal teams and suppliers to optimize sourcing decisions.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with design and product teams to align sourcing strategies with specifications and timelines, building and maintaining supplier relationships to enhance quality and efficiency, and evaluating suppliers based on capabilities and sustainability standards. The role also involves facilitating communication between design teams and manufacturers, negotiating pricing to balance cost and quality, and tracking market trends to enhance product offerings. Additionally, the Retail Sourcing Manager will maintain sourcing documentation, pricing records, and a component library to ensure seamless operations.
Desired Experience, Skill, and Abilities of the Technical Designer
- Bachelors degree in Merchandising, Design, Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- 5 years of sourcing or procurement experience in consumer products
- Knowledge of molded resins, plastics, leather goods, handbags, or accessories is a plus
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and supply chain management software
