Description
As a Feed Sales Marketer, you'll be a trusted advisor to producers, providing expert feed sales, nutritional guidance, and complete livestock production consulting. You'll leverage your deep understanding of animal nutrition and the latest industry innovations to develop customized solutions that optimize producer profitability and animal health. You'll be a key player in expanding MKC's market share, driving operational efficiency, and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record in agricultural sales or consulting, with a strong understanding of livestock nutrition and animal health.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems and other digital tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with precision livestock management technologies.
- Knowledge of grain contracting and risk management.
- Valid driver’s license
Requirements
Consultative Sales & Nutrition Expertise:
- Provide comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop tailored feed and animal health recommendations for beef, horse, swine, poultry, and specialty livestock.
- Utilize data-driven insights and cutting-edge technologies to optimize feed strategies and improve livestock performance.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and advancements in feed science, animal health, and livestock management.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with producers through proactive communication, exceptional service, and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing ongoing support and guidance to help producers achieve their production goals.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Adhere to MKC’s credit policy.
Business Development & Growth:
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities to expand MKC's customer base and market share.
- Collaborate with MKC's feed mills, purchasing managers, and location teams to ensure seamless product delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Leverage digital tools and platforms to enhance customer engagement and streamline sales processes.
Technical Proficiency & Compliance:
- Conduct on-farm feed and hay sampling and accurately interpret lab results.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of government regulations (DOT, OSHA, EPA) and ensure compliance.
- Utilize CRM and other digital tools to manage customer data, track sales activities, and generate reports.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Partner with MKC's feed staff, enterprise sales team and other departments to provide integrated solutions and maximize cross-selling opportunities.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your expertise and stay current with industry best practices.
- Complete special projects as assigned by manager.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor’s degree in animal science, feed science, business management or similar field or five years of experience in the grain, feed, or agronomy business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Eye protection and hard hat is required in restricted areas. Appropriate personal protective equipment (i.e. goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and/or face mask) required when handling certain chemicals and medications.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Job involves work inside a climate-controlled office atmosphere and outside in hot and cold weather. Job involves much lifting, stooping, standing, and climbing on ladders.
