XS Telecom is the specialty services division of MKD Electric. We are based in the DC region, XS Telecom is one of the nation’s leading cabling contractors and providers of data system installation services. Quickly moving into other industries, we are a fast-paced and agile company looking for a best-in-class Low Voltage Technician willing to roll up their sleeves and exude a passion for the field. 

What You Will Do… 

• Install and terminate CAT5/CAT6 copper and fiber optic cabling for various applications like data networks, security systems, backbone, and ISP cabling 

• Pull, route, label, and manage cables to ensure efficient and organized installations 

• Perform cable testing using specialized equipment to verify signal quality and system performance 

• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions 

• Install and configure low-voltage equipment such as access control panels, cameras, network switches, audio/video devices, and control wiring 

• Document installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities accurately and concisely 

• Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working in various environments 

• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment 

What You Will Need to Succeed… 

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Low Voltage Technician or related field 

• Proven ability to terminate and test CAT5/CAT6 copper and fiber optic cabling 

• Strong understanding of low-voltage systems, including network cabling, security systems, audio/video systems, and control wiring 

• Experience with cable pulling, routing, labeling, and cable management 

• Solid carpentry skills for mounting equipment and running cable paths 

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

• Must be detail-oriented and quality-driven 

• Ability to lift heavy network equipment and perform work on ladders 

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
