What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substation Drafter/Designer position at MKEC Engineering?

We’re looking for a Substation Drafter/Design to join our Power Delivery team at our Overland Park location (in office). This individual will assist with the design primarily for electric substation design development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide drafting support to engineers and designers on Power Delivery related projects, primarily focused on the development of substation physical and electrical drawing creation.
- Develop AutoCAD drawings that include general arrangement, elevation, details, BOM, one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.
- Incorporate red line changes in existing drawings, as directed by designers and engineers.
- Set up and compile drawing packages that will ultimately be issued to clients.
- Set up and utilize BlueBeam Revu Sessions and Projects to facilitate the review/markup of drawing sets for drawing package development.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with other disciplines within the company including structural, civil, survey, etc.
- Assist the project team in meeting client expectations and schedules.
Requirements:
- Associates degree in drafting or related area.
- 2 years of experience in substation physical and electrical design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD.
- Experience with 3D drafting/design is preferred (Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor, etc.).
- Able to recognize, understand and develop diagrams using electrical and part symbols, reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as well as substation physical, civil and structural drawings.
- Experience working with scaled drawings.
- Understand coordinate systems and be able to orient AutoCAD drawing components in real-world coordinates and working with UCS.
- Attention to detail and adherence to drawing standards including client specific standards, practices, and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire to be part of a team-oriented culture.
- Excellent time management skills.
