Any mechanic looking to make decisions and provide meaningful service should strongly consider joining the Warehouse Team at Michael Kinder and Sons.  We are seeking a mechanic with a minimum of four (4) years of experience with heavy mobile equipment in the construction industry, or equivalent. This highly motivated team member will contribute to a growing organization by providing mechanical maintenance and repair of all the company’s equipment and vehicles.

YOUR RESPONSIBLITIES

 

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

·         Perform repair and maintenance of mobile equipment, including aerial boom lifts, scissor lifts, skid loaders, etc.

·         Conduct small engine and small tool maintenance and repair.

·         Replace malfunctioning subassemblies and components (e.g., transmissions, clutches, differentials, engines).

·         Dismantle and reassemble mobile equipment to access problem areas.

·         Change oil, check and change batteries, lubricate equipment, and change tires (shop and on-site).

·         Test repaired equipment to ensure operational efficiency.

 

Diagnostics & Systems Troubleshooting

·         Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects.

·         Diagnose and correct electrical problems.

·         Repair malfunctioning hydraulic components.

 

Preventative, Field & Fabrication Work

·         Perform preventative maintenance.

·         Carry out planned field scheduled maintenance.

·         Conduct onsite emergency repairs and annual lift inspections.

·         Weld, cut, and fabricate equipment and components.

 

Tool & Inventory Management

·         Requisition parts and supplies as needed.

·         Maintain accurate shop inventory.

·         Inventory and maintain service truck.

·         Manage service plans, service requests, and work orders using tool tracking software.

·         Recommend equipment for repair by outside sources.

 

Organizational & Administrative Skills

·         Keep up-to-date vehicle service records.

·         Schedule and coordinate services and repairs, including emergency and standard maintenance.

·         Perform and document annual equipment inspections.

·         Keep accurate records and report issues.

 

Workplace Safety & Cleanliness

·         Maintain a clean and safe environment in the shop, field, and yard.

·         Comply with all safety requirements and procedures.

 

Training & Compliance

·         Keep up to date with training and certifications relevant to shop operations.

·         Supervise and train other mechanics.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

1.      Minimum Education | High School Diploma

2.      Minimum Work Experience | Four (4) years of previous mechanical experience working on heavy mobile equipment, or equivalent education.

3.      Maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

4.      Candidate must possess basic knowledge of the following:

o   Engines, hydraulics, braking systems.

o   Driveline: to include clutch, flywheel, transmissions, and differentials.

o   Steering mechanisms and suspensions.

o   Air systems, electrical systems.

o   Welding, cutting, and fabricating skills.

o   Manipulate tools (e.g., hand tools, power tools).

o   Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

o   Ability to understand manuals and operate vehicles.

o   Ability to follow proper safety procedures and site rules.

o   Ability to read and interpret graphs and charts.

5.      Candidate must meet the following physical requirements:

o   Able to lift  up to 75 pounds

o   Capable of climbing, crawling, bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, and walking

o   Able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying temperatures and noise levels

o   Comfortable working at elevated heights

o   Skilled in using hands and tools to manipulate components, including in hard-to-reach areas
