What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatch Manager position at Mlaker Student Transportation?
The manager/dispatcher is the central figure of our daily student transportation operation.
This role requires extreme dedication and the ability to work long hours.
You must be highly adaptable, effective at problem-solving, and able to think on your feet.
Duties:
- Promote and foster a positive work environment for drivers by providing support and swiftly resolving any issues that may arise.
- Empower drivers to deliver the safest and highest quality student transportation services.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule drivers and buses for daily routes and extracurricular trips.
- Provide drivers with necessary paperwork, including directions, itineraries, etc.
- Communicate route changes, discipline issues, and other important information between schools and drivers via phone, radio, and email.
- Respond to driver call-offs and schedule substitute drivers as needed.
- Work efficiently with computer scheduling systems.
- Solve in-trip problems that involve drivers, students, or buses.
- Address parent inquiries, phone calls, and emails in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain excellent customer relations by effectively handling customer complaints and issues.
- Strive to create a positive experience for each customer, making them feel valued and unique.
- Seek out and generate new sales leads and customers through charter work opportunities.
- Recruit and hire new candidates who align with our team's values and goals.
- Oversee driver personnel paperwork, training, and development.
- Must be willing and able to obtain a Class B CDL with S and P endorsements.
- Previous experience in student transportation is preferred but not required.
