The Freelance Coordinator, Social Media is responsible for coordinating and executing multiple aspects of promoting MLB Network and NHL Network through various social media outlets, including crafting and posting messages, handling requests from the MLB Office of the Commissioner and NHL.com, monitoring social media, creating plans, maintaining analytics, assisting with campaigns, and other such duties
Responsibilities:
- Assist with community management and original content creation for MLB Network and NHL Networks' social media platforms.
- Continuously monitor social media for breaking news, comments and feedback during shift.
- Pla an integral role in developing the social media strategy for MLB Network and NHL Network.
- Actively communicate with content producers to ensure the Social team has the most up-to-date information needed for promoting Network programming.
- Work with content producers to integrate social media initiatives into MLB Network and NHL Network on-air programming and provide Production support.
- Interact effectively with on-air talent to create compelling social media content and fulfill social media requests.
- Communicate with club and league social media teams as needed.
- Maintain and effectively apply knowledge of social media trends.
- Assist with creating social calendars and analytics reports.
- Lead and assist on social media campaigns related to shows and jewel events.
- Review MLB Network and NHL Network programming and request appropriate highlight clips to be posted on MLB.com and NHL.com.
- Assist others in the department as needed
- Other such duties as required
Qualifications and Skills:
- 1-2 years' experience in Social Media.
- Television, Sports, Social Media, Entertainment, or Communications background is helpful.
- Baseball and Hockey knowledge is essential: applicants will be given an in-person baseball and hockey knowledge assessment as interview process progresses.
- Able to routinely exercise appropriate independent judgment with respect to social media postings and other such assigned duties.
- Content creation skills: shooting & editing photos & videos.
- Graphic design: knowledge of Photoshop required.
- Strong computer skills: proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word; Photoshop experience helpful.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, project coordination skills, and extreme attention to detail.
- Must possess a general interest and knowledge of the landscape of sports marketing as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and respond to strict deadlines.
- Deep knowledge of the social media space.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including primarily nights and weekends.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television. Ability to complete assigned content in a fast paced, deadline heavy, high pressure live environment.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to sit, climb stairs, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
- Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
