What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wholesale Mortgage Underwriter position at MLB Residential Lending, LLC?
This is a full-time role as a Wholesale Underwriter at MLB Residential Lending, LLC. The Wholesale underwriter must be well experienced with VA Loans. Knowledge and experience with FHA, Conventional loans and Non QM’s a plus. One will be responsible for assessing and evaluating loan applications, reviewing financial documents, analyzing borrower creditworthiness, and making informed decisions on mortgage loan approvals. This is a hybrid role, located in Springfield, NJ, with flexibility for some remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate wholesale mortgage loan applications to ensure compliance with company guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assess borrower creditworthiness by analyzing credit reports, income documents, bank statements, tax returns, and other financial data.
- Verify property appraisals to ensure accurate valuation and assess risk.
- Communicate underwriting decisions to loan officers and brokers, providing clear reasons for approval, denial, or requests for additional information.
- Collaborate with loan processors, loan officers, and other departments to resolve issues and ensure the efficient flow of the loan process.
- Stay current with changes in mortgage lending regulations, underwriting guidelines, and market trends.
- Mitigate risk by identifying potential issues in loan applications and making recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal lending regulations, including RESPA, TILA, and ECOA.
- Document loan file decisions clearly and thoroughly for audits and compliance purposes.
- Meet or exceed production goals while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
