About the Job
The Sales & Business Development Manager is responsible for key commercial and sales activities for the Specialty Calcium Oxide and Specialty Calcium Hydroxide product lines. The Specialty Lime business is a strategic component of MLC’s portfolio, serving high margin specialty chemical and food grade customers.
Essential Functions:
- Develop new business opportunities within the MLC Specialty markets in line with the strategy outlined by the Global Business and Sales Manager.
- Understand customer end-use markets as well as the technical details relative to the use of MLC products in their applications and provides technical support to customer. Manage and grow key accounts within the specialty market. Manages the customer relationship at all levels and functions within the customer organization. Investigates and resolves customer complaints in a timely basis, and within stated policies and procedures. Coordinates with customer and company customer service team on supply chain and logistic situations to support customer and optimize the supply of our products.
- Responsible for MLC’s approach to the Distributor market, refining commercial agreements, pricing, and technical support as needed.
- Track and understand market dynamics, competitive landscape and customer trends. Identifies key issues and opportunities and makes recommendations to Global Business and Sales Management.
- Attends, manages and /or presents at relevant tradeshows and technical/industry conferences in support of sales and marketing initiatives by participating in professional associations, conferences and activities related to the lime industry and major end-use market.
- Submits routine reports, such as customer reports, monthly reports, territory performance reports, budgets, forecasts and expense reports in a timely manner. Prepares documents such as price quotes, competitive analyses, contracts, and service obligations within the policy guidelines of MLC and the Sales, Marketing and Innovation Department.
- Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Business is required. MBA preferred.
- Experience: Must have a minimum of four years prior experience in sales, marketing, or engineering. Strong preference for individuals with a background in Specialty Chemical, Business Development, Technical Sales, or Chemical Distributor commercial background.
- Licenses: Valid Driver’s License, TWIC card and valid passport with more than six months before expiration.
- Language: Fluency or working business knowledge in Spanish, or other foreign language is a plus
- Abilities: Strategic and analytical mindset; capable of dealing with high-volume day-to-day tactical activities while still maintain long-term strategic view.
- Skills: Good written, verbal and presentation skills; advanced excel capabilities preferred. Familiarity with Power BI is desired.
- Travel: Willingness to travel 30-60% (varies throughout the year).
