About the Job
The Director of Data is responsible for overseeing the strategic management, integration, and utilization of data across the organization. This leadership role involves driving the data strategy, ensuring the efficient collection, processing, and analysis of data, and promoting data-driven decision-making at all levels of the company. The Director of Data will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement data solutions that enhance business performance, optimize operations, and support long-term strategic objectives, while maintaining data quality, security and compliance.
Required Qualifications
Education: A four-year degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience: At least five to ten years of equivalent experience, with three years in a data leadership role. Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data architecture/tool principles.
Experience: Working with both Operational Technology and Information Technology environments with experience executing strategies and initiatives that meet both objectives.
Knowledge: Experience with cloud-based data management platforms, familiarity with analytics tools (PowerBI), and understanding of data privacy laws. Including advanced programming skills in languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
Skills: Excellent leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and leading high-performance teams. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Skills: Ability to envision and create a data strategy that aligns with organizations overall business strategy.
Skills: Experience engaging with, soliciting input from, and guiding decisions with Executive Leaders across the business.
Abilities: Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate business needs into actionable data strategies.
Abilities: Strong financial acumen with ability to help business balance benefits and value creation against cost investments and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Abilities: Strong partnering and collaboration skills necessary to engage relevant cross-functional teams to achieve aligned objectives.
Essential Functions
Collaborate with MLC business leaders to set, refine, and execute forward-thinking global data strategy aligned with the organizations overall MLC business strategy.
Design and implement a global scalable, secure, and efficient data infrastructure to support date collection, storage, and processing, and analysis.
Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enable business access they need to meet business goals.
Create and oversee a global data governance framework to ensure data quality, security, compliance, and ethical use of data.
Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for data usage and management.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR) and industry best practices.
Enable self-service data analysis capabilities across the global organization to empower teams with actionable insights.
Provide training and resources to enhance data literacy and analytical skills at all levels of the organization.
Build a high-performing data organization by training or hiring, mentoring, and developing top talent.
Foster collaboration and alignment across departments to ensure data initiatives support organizational priorities.
