About the Job
The purpose of the Terminal Leader is to manage daily operations of the Ste. Genevieve, MO, Verona, KY, and Over-the-Road trucking terminals. Oversee execution of safety program, dispatch, driver recruitment and retention, DOT compliance, and customer delivery. Prepare and utilize performance reports to make efficient and effective operation decisions. Clearly communicate the needs and opportunities of the terminals to leadership team.
Direct the daily activities of the Ste. Genevieve, Verona, and Over-the-Road terminals. Includes supervision of hourly and salary employees. Requires management of staffing requirements, employee performance and development, safety compliance, training, absenteeism and tardiness, discipline, adherence to plant and federal rules/procedures/regulations, job assignments, and other miscellaneous functions as needed.
Ensures effective employee relations. Builds an effective and functional team environment. Ensures a safe work environment for all employees and execution of annual safety plan for the terminal. Supports and participates in learning teams and implementation of safety defenses. Responsible for preparation of safety reports required for internal use and OSHA reporting. Performs safety process audits including shop safety audits, driver ride along, customer site audits, etc. Executes weekly safety talks with all employees and encourages active participation in safety activities. Works with other team members to maintain DOT compliance for the drivers and fleet.
Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of driver files, equipment records, accident records, and dispatch records to comply with DOT regulations. Oversee dispatch including driver assignment, plant load scheduling, and customer site delivery.
Coordinate all purchases and terminal improvements utilizing current company software. Prepare AFEs for capital projects including equipment and terminal improvements.
Prepare monthly reports on safety, operational, and financial performance.
Investigate customer complaints, determine root cause, and implement defenses. Represent the Company as necessary in customer service role, visit customer facilities to discuss methods for improving and developing good relations.
Attends and participates in routine meetings including labor relations, safety, recruiting, etc.
Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education: Four-year degree in Business Management, Transportation Management, Warehousing Management or equivalent experience
Experience: 5-10 years of relevant experience; prior experience with union workforce required
Abilities: A demonstrated ability to lead hourly and salaried employees and get results through others. An ability to think ahead and plan over a specific time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
Skills: A team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Travel: Ability to travel to other terminal locations.
