MLK Montessori is a year-round Montessori school dedicated to fostering a love of learning, independence, and self-responsibility in children. In 2024, we were one of five schools in the state of Indiana that received the National Association of the Education of Young Children recognition. MLK is the oldest Montessori school in the state of Indiana, our commitment to the Montessori method creates a positive, collaborative, and inclusive environment where students can explore, discover, and grow at their own pace. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher to join our educational team and help inspire the next generation of curious and confident leaders. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the diverse needs of students. This role involves developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, managing classroom dynamics, and collaborating with other educators to enhance student learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans based on the Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
- Create a warm, inviting, and orderly classroom environment that promotes student independence and exploration.
- Observe and assess students' progress, providing ongoing feedback to both children and their families.
- Foster a respectful and collaborative classroom culture where each child feels valued and supported.
- Guide students in daily routines, helping them build life skills such as practical care, responsibility, and cooperation.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's development, progress, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to create a cohesive and engaging learning experience.
- Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment in line with school policies.
Qualifications:
- Montessori certification from an accredited program (Primary or Early Childhood) preferred.
- A degree in education or related field is a plus.
- Prior experience in a Montessori classroom is highly preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of child development and the Montessori philosophy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.
- Passion for working with children and fostering a love of learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and engage positively with families.
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
