Job Title: Payroll Administrator

Location: Auburn, WA

Salary: $80k-$100k DOE

Shift: M-F; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Reports to: Managing Member

Work Environment: Office based

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our team; we are a leading structural steel fabricator and erector. As a future ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, our employees are not only integral to our success—they also have ownership in it. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees within the organization. This role will also involve maintaining records, complying with relevant laws, and collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing Accurately process payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and correct payment in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Data Management Input and maintain employee payroll data, including new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and benefits.
  • Compliance Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax requirements, and other legal obligations.
  • Payroll Reporting Generate and distribute payroll reports to management, including salary breakdowns, tax deductions, and benefits information.
  • Benefits Administration Assist in managing employee benefits deductions (e.g., health insurance, retirement plans), ensuring proper integration into payroll systems.
  • Recordkeeping Maintain accurate payroll records, including timesheets, attendance, and leave balances, in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Issue Resolution Address and resolve employee payroll inquiries, discrepancies, or issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Tax Filings Prepare and submit required tax filings (e.g., quarterly, annual reports) and ensure proper tax withholdings for employees.
  • System Management Ensure payroll software and systems are up to date and functioning effectively, and recommend improvements when necessary.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration Work closely with HR, Accounting, and other departments to ensure that payroll data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Support accounting department with various operational tasks.
  • Assist in implementing and improving accounting systems and processes.

Qualifications

  • Education
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field NOT REQUIRED, but preferred.
  • Certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional - CPP) NOT REQUIRED, but preferred.
  • Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience administering payroll, preferably within the construction, manufacturing, or fabrication industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction/job costing processes.
  • Proficiency with an accounting software (e.g., , Sage, QuickBooks, or similar platforms), we use ComputerEase.
  • Proficient with payroll processing, tax filings, and financial reporting.
  • Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other departments.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office environment for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of files or office materials (up to 25 lbs).
