Vehicle Maintenance Instructor

In support of Program Manager Advanced Amphibious Assault, we are seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Instructor with experience in supporting the New Equipment Training (NET) efforts for the Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) and Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV).  

• Develop, maintain, and implement classroom and practical application curriculum for maintenance of the vehicle; instruct on and demonstrate how to execute diagnostic tests and interpretation of results
• Instruct and demonstrate how to remove and install major components
• Instruct and demonstrate how to determine if the system/subsystem is malfunctioning
• Isolation and location of malfunctions in the Line Replaceable Units (LRU) and replace defective LRUs; troubleshoot and repair system and subsystem malfunctions
• Instruct and demonstrate how to perform routine preventative maintenance functions; other administrative tasks associated with maintenance of the communications curriculum
• Maintain proficiency with AAV/ACV system and confirm to the Training Manager they are “Ready to Train” ten (10) days prior to any instruction
• Assist the Training Manager by collecting student feedback for the assessment of NET effectiveness.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree preferred 
• At least six (6) years of relevant experience
• Familiarity with AAV and/or ACV operations; proficient in Microsoft Office Products; strong attention to detail; provide proof of completion of the Marine Corps Instructor Development Course (IDC) or equivalent; read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language, including technical language and terms associated with the operation, operator maintenance and field level maintenance of Ordnance Vehicles and associated communications and data systems.

Specific/Preferred Requirements:

• Applicants shall have the knowledge, skills and attributes to implement and evaluate instruction on the operation of the system, subsystems and equipment controls; execution of diagnostic tests and interpretation of results; removal and installation of major components; determination if the system/subsystem is malfunctioning; isolation and location of malfunctions in the Line Replaceable Units (LRU); replacement of defective LRU’s; troubleshooting and repair of system and subsystem malfunctions, and performance of routine preventative maintenance functions.
• Review and provide recommended changes to course curricula, lesson plans, student guides, and audiovisual aids in support of lesson material and examinations. 
• Deliver instruction incident events identified for the AA FoV, and the associated training systems. 
• Conduct actions incident to the maintenance of amphibious vehicles inspection, repair, and procedures as stipulated in the field-level maintenance manual(s), reference(s) and instructions and the associated training systems affiliated with the delivery of the maintenance program of instruction as approved. These instructions may contain some operator functions, which are expected to increase as the ACV-Recovery (R) comes online.  
• Responsible for the upkeep of their assigned periods of instruction and other administrative tasks associated with maintenance of the repairer/technician curriculum(s).
• Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  The employee must also have the ability to pass rigorous swim qualification equivalent to the current Water Survival Qualification – Intermediate (WS-I) and successfully complete the Submerged Vehicle Egress trainer (SVET).
