JOB DUTIES
Performs WIC Nutritionist duties per State WIC Policy & Procedures
Screens for intake data and determines nutritional risk; provides nutrition education
Performs anthropometric measuring, lab work and maintains standing to perform required lab work
Demonstrates motivational interviewing skills and goal setting; performs appropriate WIC documentation
Prescribes appropriate food packages for clients; prepares nutrition care plans for clients, including those for high risk Provides client education and outreach; schedules appointments and coordinates referrals (medical & community)
Issues e-WIC benefits and assists with clinic administrative needs
Works with other members of interdisciplinary team in a positive manner
Ensures a positive customer service experience for clients
Uses technology as assigned; documents and signs appropriately
Assists the Nutrition Education Coordinator and Breastfeeding Supervisor with quality assurance
Assists the Clinic Coordinator(s)/Manager(s) and Director with projects and tasks as assigned; comprehensive teamwork
Occasional travel and staff relief required
MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
BS., B.A., in Clinical Nutrition, Public Health, Nutrition, Community Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Dietetics, Nutritional Science, or Home Economics with emphasis in Nutrition or Dietetics; advanced degrees per state agency approval
Previous successful supervisory and related experience preferred
Training per local and state agency needs
Credentialing/competencies in accordance with current credentialing and/or competency requirements
Licensed, insured Pennsylvania driver, or access to licensed, insured driver to enable one to perform job as necessary.
Professional knowledge of maternal and child health; aware of current research within field.
Skills necessary to effectively communicate with various members of the health care team, other health care facilities, community health related organizations, various external parties and regulatory agencies
Physical skills: intermittent sitting, standing and walking; ability to use office equipment such as telephone, personal computer, copier, fax machine, etc.
Ability to concentrate and prioritize, resolve problems, and interact with situations. Must be able to remember, reason, understand and be emotionally stable
Able to work as a team member
