The EMR Analyst will work closely with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and vendors to implement system updates, resolve issues, and improve the usability and functionality of the EMR platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration & Support: Manage and monitor the EMR system to ensure it operates smoothly and meets the needs of users. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to system performance, security, and user access.
- Data Management & Integrity: Maintain accurate, secure, and complete patient records within the EMR system, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and industry standards.
- Training & Support: Provide training to healthcare staff on best practices for using the EMR system, ensuring all users are proficient in accessing and entering patient data. Offer ongoing support to troubleshoot issues or assist with system navigation.
- System Optimization & Improvements: Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to identify opportunities for improving the functionality and efficiency of the EMR system. Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and configuration adjustments as needed.
- Reporting & Analytics: Generate and analyze reports from the EMR system to support clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements. Provide insights to leadership for decision-making and continuous quality improvement.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure the EMR system is in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including data privacy and security requirements. Maintain accurate documentation of system processes, configurations, and updates.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments (clinical, administrative, IT) to ensure seamless integration of the EMR with other systems and processes. Serve as a liaison between users and vendors for system troubleshooting and enhancements.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as Certified Professional in Health Informatics (CPHI) or Certified EMR/EHR Specialist are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with electronic health record systems, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience with Altera Touchworks is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of EMR systems, data entry standards, and healthcare regulations. Familiarity with data analysis tools, report generation, and system troubleshooting. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with diverse teams and effectively train non-technical staff.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Able to identify root causes and propose practical solutions.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with healthcare IT infrastructure and integration of EMR systems with other healthcare applications.
- Knowledge of coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT, and SNOMED.
- Experience in project management and system implementation.
- This position is based at the Murfreesboro Medical Clinic – Garrison Drive Location with occasional travel to other sites or vendor locations as required.
- Typical office hours, with occasional flexibility needed for system updates or troubleshooting.
