Ophthalmic Scribe/Technician
Murfreesboro Medical Clinic is seeking a full time ophthalmic technician. As one of Murfreesboro’s largest specialty clinics, technicians will be employed in a growing practice, and fast paced environment. Our ophthalmology department specializes in surgical expertise ranging from Cornea, Cataract, LASIK, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
Combination of office, exam and other clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids and other conditions common to nursing situations.
Physical / Mental Demands
Varied activities including sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Occasional stresses from multiple patient care responsibilities.
Department Standards
All representatives of the Ophthalmology Department are expected to 1) promote an image of professionalism, 2) perform all duties asked of them in a timely and efficient manner, and 3) focus primarily on providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
- Obtain thorough medical histories for new and established patients.
- Perform vision examinations, check motility, and IOP’s.
- Provide basic and intermediate ophthalmic workup including specialized testing.
- Instillation of ophthalmic drops.
- Scribes for physician when needed.
- Notify patient of test results when needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy of eye, ocular conditions, and ocular imaging equipment.
- Ability to perform tasks in a timely manner.
- Good problem solving and decision making skills.
- Detailed oriented, along with ability to multitask.
- Ability to operate, or learn to operate: Sonomed A-Scan, IOL Master, slit lamp, visual fields, HRT, Nidek OPD, and Pentacam.
