MMI Engineered Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Tooling Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in plastic injection molding tooling design and development. This role requires a proactive individual who is willing and able to travel internationally and maintain flexible working hours to support projects across different time zones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop tooling for plastic injection molding processes.
- Act as project manager for all outsourced tooling programs, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tooling meets project specifications and quality standards.
- Conduct feasibility studies and mold flow analysis.
- Manage tooling projects from conception through production launch.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to tooling projects.
- Other projects as assigned by Engineering Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tooling engineering, specifically in plastic injection molding.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Demonstrated proficiency in program management principles, including control, tracking, and measurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong grasp of mechanical engineering concepts, with experience in applying FEA, MFA, and GD&T to complex applications.
- Demonstrated ability to think critically, innovate, and solve problems effectively.
- Excellent data management and transfer skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including Canada, Mexico, and Asia.
- Willingness and ability to maintain flexible hours to support projects in different time zones (e.g., Asia).
- Experience with mold flow analysis software.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Willingness and ability to work on-site (engineering offices) five days per week.
- Previous experience working in a global manufacturing environment.
