Position Overview:
The Digital Prepress Technician is responsible for operations and duties in production, including converting supplied artwork into print ready files using Adobe Suite applications. As a Digital Prepress Technician, responsibilities include color correct artwork and consult with customer service reps on various projects status, reworking customers files for print using latest software, and build impositions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare artwork files for customer approval.
- Incorporate all press specifications in files including marks, registration, gain curves, and profiles, to achieve press matches.
- Follow standard operating procedures for the use of graphic programs.
- Clean and perform routine maintenance on all presses.
- Assist in preparing spec sheets and set-up sheets for ink.
- Step and repeat final art files using – Esko’s imposition software.
- Perform all quality checks per work instructions.
- Assist with on-line and off-line press checks as needed.
- Read work orders or other instructions to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
- Make color modifications and update the Press and Art dept.
- Log and record operational data on MIS.
- Ink drawdowns for all orders.
- Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems.
- Report all potential safety concerns to the Quality Assurance Manager and any potential food safety, legality, or quality concerns to the Plant Manager or Quality personnel.
- Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Must follow all company policies and procedures.
- Perform all other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel to Georgia for 1 week of training
- Graphic Arts background is preferred.
- 3 years experience as Prepress Operator.
- Bilingual with Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Must have experience with Adobe Illustrator and digital prepress experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent or technical certificate.
- 3-4 years in the print industry.
- Experience working with Esko, PDF, Photoshop/Illustrator, and ArtPro.
- Possess good trapping skills.
- Color management experience.
- File management experience.
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Great work ethic and welcomes working overtime.
Physical Demands:
- Standing and seated for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
