Company Description
MMT is an emerging company that develops innovative nondestructive testing (NDT) technologies and delivers support services for these technologies used to inspect critical energy infrastructure. MMT’s technologies provide customers with non-destructive measures of tensile strength and fracture toughness. This helps customers evaluate the remaining service capacity of their critical assets without the service interruption that sample extraction or pressure testing requires, thus reducing the cost of collecting data. The end customers use the data in asset risk management with the goal of enhancing public safety.
Position Description
As a key member of the product engineering team, the Senior Instrument Data Engineer will be responsible for the seamless and reliable flow of data from the point of collection to customer delivery. Key activities include developing and implementing specifications and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with our hardware development, software development, and data analytics experts. The position will report to the Director of Product Development. The role also includes engineering support to operations by managing special customer requests and special projects. A growth area for the role would be acting as a subject matter expert on the data aspects of MMT technologies. The work will initially focus on our new Blade Toughness Meter (BTM) technology, which is being launched and will support the company's growth.
Responsibilities
• Analyze and interpret instrument data, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and SOPs.
• Develop and execute validation protocols to confirm the accuracy of signal processing procedures and measurement results.
• Engage directly with customers to explain technical product aspects and address questions about data analysis.
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on data analytics and reporting, both internally and externally.
• Maintain, update, and improve engineering specifications, SOPs, and data quality control documentation.
• Collaborate on software development projects related to data analysis, process integration, and achieving platform scalability.
Skills & Qualifications
• MS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Systems Engineering, or a closely related quantitative field; OR a BS in a similar field with 7 years of directly relevant professional experience.
• 5 years of professional experience in an engineering role that includes data analysis from instrument signal
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to data quality and analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences (technical peers, operations staff, customers).
• Prior work using SQL Server, C#, and Python is a plus.
Job Location
This role is in-person at our facility in Natick, Massachusetts.
Compensation and Benefits
MMT offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary and a performance-based annual bonus. The Base Salary is targeted to be between $110,000 and $125,000 depending on the level of qualification and expertise of the candidate. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance, PTO, LTD and 401(k).
