Job Overview
The MN DNR - Forestry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Forestry Specialist Senior. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and administering the State Land Management – Timber Program at the Area administrative level. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of forest management theory and techniques.
Responsibilities
- Program Management: Oversee the implementation of the State Land Management – Timber Program, ensuring that it is effectively implemented, follows law and policies, and meets targets and goals.
- Budget Administration: Develop and administer budgets in assigned programs to ensure they are cost-effective, do not exceed allotments, and meet priorities.
- Policy Development: Develop and coordinate management of policies and plans relating to the timber sales program in the Area to achieve annual and long-term goals.
- Communication: Coordinate information and education in assigned programs to keep the public informed about the Division's programs and colleagues aware of new developments in methods and procedures.
- Field Assignments: Implement field assignments under the lead of area program foresters.
- Special Assignments: Complete special assignments on committees, boards, fire teams, task forces, and training teams to provide field input for policy development and expand programs.
