The MN DNR - Forestry department is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to oversee the administrative area, encompassing an office in Little Falls and field stations in Mora, Zimmerman, and Onamia. This position will provide supervision for administrative staff and direct program implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise administrative staff, providing guidance on work assignments, rewards, and discipline.
- Direct program implementation, promoting inter-disciplinary collaboration and problem-solving within the Area Administrative Unit.
- Represent the Division of Forestry to other organizations, agencies, and the public.
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Science/Management or a closely related field. A minimum of four years' professional forestry experience, including two years in a senior forester role or one year in a supervisory forestry role, is also required.
Candidates must have knowledge of forestry management principles sufficient to implement public responsiveness techniques and administer Department policies and procedures. Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration with co-workers, technical audiences, and local constituents.
This leadership role requires a high level of organizational and time-management skills, as well as the ability to treat employees inclusively in areas such as accommodation, accessibility, scheduling, expectations, individualized resource needs, training, and development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher, accredited by the Society of American Foresters.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Broad range of experience with forestry field operation programs, including State Land Management, Resource Protection, Forest Resource Information and Analysis, and Cooperative Forest Management.
A Leadership Development Program or Supervisory Skill Development Program completion would be beneficial in this role.
