Role Overview
As the Used Auto Parts Operations Manager, you’ll lead our parts department, pinpointing high-value parts from 350 weekly vehicles and 30–50 revolving parts cars (2013 average, heavy on Ford, Toyota, Honda, and GM trucks, SUVs, vans, and sedans). Our rapid turnover—unlike traditional salvage yards—demands quick instincts to capture value before it’s gone, without managing acquisition, transport, recycling, or administrative processes, as our dedicated teams handle those. You’ll lead a salvage yard team, optimize parts selection and cataloging, grow our $1.1 million inventory, and drive sales past 1.5% weekly ($16,500 ). With Checkmate/Car-Part expertise and low acquisition costs (<$460/vehicle, ~30 added monthly), you’ll keep inventory relevant and maximize profitability in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead & Inspire: Guide three parts salespeople, 1.5 dismantlers, and support staff to peak performance.
- Spot Value: Identify high-value parts from 350 weekly vehicles and 30–50 parts cars, minimizing missed opportunities.
- Grow Inventory & Sales: Expand $1.1 million inventory with ~500 parts weekly ($50,000 ), targeting >1.5% weekly sales ($16,500 ).
- Master Cataloging: Ensure quality and accuracy with Checkmate/Car-Part for fast, relevant turnover.
- Financial Strategy: Leverage low acquisition costs (<$460/vehicle), manage budgets, and boost profits with admin support.
- Yard Efficiency: Streamline parts flow, inspect vehicles, ID parts, and log data to capture value quickly.
Qualifications
- 5 years in salvage yard or used auto parts management.
- Checkmate/Car-Part expertise (required).
- Proven leadership in fast-paced settings.
- Keen ability to spot high-value parts under pressure.
- Strong knowledge of salvage operations, inventory, and safety regulations.
- Solid computer and automotive skills (trucks, SUVs, GM vehicles a plus).
- Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Physically able to lift 50–75 lbs in a yard setting.
- Thrives in high-volume, high-turnover environments.

- Pay: $80,000–$120,000/year (base bonuses, tied to experience and sales growth)
- Hours: 40–50 hours/week, Monday–Friday, day shift (weekends as needed)
