General Purpose of the Position :

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the Network Infrastructure operations team performs their daily duties by providing global oversight and instruction for all functions and act as the primary point of escalation for urgent matters within the capacity of the Network Infrastructure role.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to : training and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, delegating and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving employee issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Maintain the operational integrity of the Network Infrastructure team to ensure client expectations are exceeded.
Act as the immediate escalation contact for Network Infrastructure team.
Completion of performance evaluations and disciplinary actions for Network Infrastructure Technicians
Ensure consistent execution of policies and procedures
Perform quality assurance reviews to confirm the highest level of service is rendered to Switch customers.
Assist management in scheduling of Network Infrastructure teams to meet shift demands.
Assess and document performance metrics.
Provide operational documentation to managerial reporting structure.
Provide input and feedback for the use and optimization of internal network management as well as customer support functions, processes and procedures.
Interpret, investigate and remediate mission critical alerts.
Ensure tools and equipment are on hand and adequately inventoried and maintained.
Be operationally fluent with all responsibilities of direct reports.
Conduct formal and informal training and coaching sessions with the staff as needed.
Provide technical guidance to Network Infrastructure Technicians.

Other Duties :

Local and domestic travel may be required at Switch’s request.

Assist upper management in the process of interviewing and on boarding of new employees.

All employees are responsible for the general upkeep and cleanliness of Switch facilities. This includes but is not limited to Meet Me Cages and IDF’s.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Job Skills :

Required to work a flexible schedule according to business needs / events (to include, but not limited to nights and weekends and / or shift rotation).

Demonstrated knowledge of datacenter infrastructure deployment to include, but not limited to, industry cabling standards, power, cooling and fault tolerance.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware, layer 1 connectivity issues and maintenance on hardware devices.

Possess cognition of the impact of electrostatic discharge when applied to electronic devices and the ability to apply practical methods to mitigate static discharge events.

Must be comfortable with Field Replaceable Units (FRUs) on multiple hardware platforms and familiar with all media types.

Efficiently interact with computing systems.

Ability to navigate and effectively utilize ticketing systems.

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism.

Ability to effectively manage deadlines.

Display strong organizational skills.

Possess knowledge of industry cabling standards and datacenter infrastructure deployment.

Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.

Ability to lead and motivate others.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion.

Must possess proved problem solving skills.

Ability to supervise technical staff.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction.

Understanding of various network topologies.

Computer Equipment and Software :

Computer literate with an emphasis on Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience with equipment terminal access applications (Ex. : CRT, Putty, SSH).

Experience with network monitoring software applications (Ex. : Syslog, Nagios, etc.).

Education and Experience :

Certification :

CompTIA (A , N , Security ) or other Switch approved, role-based training.

Required within 12 months in role.

Cisco certifications are highly recommended.

OSHA30

Required within 6 months in role.

Leadership Training

Required within 12 months in role.

Education : Associates Degree in Technology or Business discipline recommended or equivalent experience in related field.

Experience : 2 years in a supervisory role or related management experience. Must have background within the Network Infrastructure or Information Technology field with emphasis on support of hardware / connectivity troubleshooting.

The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 100 pounds.

Must be able to stoop, kneel, and crouch for long periods of time.

Work at heights and confined spaces.

Work in areas with hotter and colder temperatures than a normal office environment.
