Position Overview:
MNL, a leader in ecological restoration, has an opening for a Forman to work for our Construction Department based out of our Glyndon, MN location. The Forman is responsible for overseeing and performing small to large scale ecological restoration projects throughout western Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas. Requires strong communication skills to ensure safe and accurate project completion.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and conduct tasks involved with successfully installing small to large scale restoration projects, including but not limited to site work, seeding, planting, and erosion control installation.
- Completes a variety of restoration duties, utilizing various types of large equipment, 3pt implements, skid-loaders, ATV/UTVs, hand tools, ATV/UTVs, mowers, weed whips, chainsaws, powered augers, etc.
- Lead a team of operators, field staff, on projects in western MN and eastern Dakotas Maintains work records and associated paperwork, including daily worklogs and safety logs.
- Communicates daily job tasks and expectations to field staff.
- Communicates project updates to company project managers, customers, and field operations manager.
- Adhere to and enforce MNL policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience working in landscaping, agriculture, or construction.
- 1 years of lead experience.
- Knowledge and experience with larger agricultural equipment/heavy equipment/civil work
- Knowledge in one or more forms of ecological restoration or construction related work.
- Experience with the safe operation and general maintenance of tools and equipment, such as pumps, small engines, sprayers, tractors, ATV/UTVs, trailers, mowers and other equipment used in restoration landscaping.
- Ability to read and navigate maps and project plans as well as accurately follow directions.
- Must have or be willing to acquire within the first 3 months (with company assistance), a class A CDL driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Biology, Wildlife Management, Botany, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management, or related fields is a plus, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, reach, and move as needed in order to complete various vegetation management duties.
- Prolonged periods of time standing.
- Able to work long hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
- Able to travel daily to various worksites within area of operations with overnight stay potential. Travel costs paid for by MNL.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
