MNL is a full-service ecological restoration company. We provide decades of experience, knowledge, industry leadership and a variety of services. Our services range from backyard native seeding to large-scale restoration, bioengineering and everything in-between.
MNL's Greenhouse division is proud to have produced and provided millions of native perennials to be introduced into local ecosystems. On an annual basis, our passionate team will seed, grow, and distribute 200 species, each of which fit a unique and valuable niche in developing habitats. A position as Greenhouse Product Sales Representative at MNL will provide hands-on experience in the production and distribution of native plants, while working in an outdoor and greenhouse setting, alongside a supportive team of native plant enthusiasts.
This position can anticipate a balance of roughly 75% office/administrative duty and 25% greenhouse and yard labor.
Due to the seasonal nature of the greenhouse industry in Minnesota, applicants should expect and plan for scheduled periods of reduced hours during the Winter season and periods of available and encouraged overtime during the Spring season.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Greenhouse Product Sales Representative's primary responsibility is to manage direct-to-customer sales transactions with an emphasis on MNL's Greenhouse products (native perennials). Direct-to-customer accounts may include: contractors, government agencies, nonprofit organizations or other non-retail clients.
Duties include:

Correspond with direct-to-customer sales accounts and engage in administration transactions relating to the sale of MNL Products. Such transactions include but are not limited to:
- Respond to customer inquiries and provide excellent customer service
- Compose accurate quotes and invoices in timely fashion
- Be a positive advocate for MNL Products to both existing and new customers

Identify new and desirable sales outlets and conduct outreach efforts with potential clients and partners
- Outreach efforts will include occasional off-site meetings with clients and partner groups as well as attendance at various conferences and conventions
- Input and analyze sales data within an evolving inventory management system
- Work closely with Production team to monitor output thresholds and product availability and understand how this relates to timeline of upcoming sales
- Input and analyze data within an evolving schedule management system
- Work closely with Fulfillment team to monitor scheduling of sales relative to staff and delivery availability
- Assist Fulfillment team in assembling orders as necessary and verify accuracy and quality of final product
- Work closely with Marketing team to ensure the value of the MNL brand is realized
- Assist in development of new efficiencies in terms of management software and all processes that relate to our shared objective of providing quality native ecological products to a growing audience

Time allocation for this position's primary responsibility vary by season. Supplemental duties include but are not limited to:
- Plant production: tray filling, seeding, transplanting, watering, trimming, and plant health monitoring
- Order fulfillment: assembling and packaging orders, attending live plant sales
- Facilities maintenance: construction and maintenance of new and existing facilities and equipment
- Marketing efforts: create marketing materials and generate ideas to positively advocate for MNL
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with customer interfacing and invoice processing
- Experience with plant development and greenhouse facilities
- Experience and interest in native plants and ecosystems
- Preference for a degree in Environmental or Business related fields
- Ability to create and utilize digital spreadsheets and solve mathematical problems
- Ability to navigate Microsoft suite, email, and other applicable applications
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as within a team
- Valid drivers' license and means of transportation
- Personal smartphone device and active phone plan
- Ability to maintain regular work schedule. Some weekend work is to be expected, though our goal is to maintain a comfortable and fulfilling work-life balance
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Prolonged periods of time standing
- Prolonged periods of time moving/lifting/transporting inventory
- Prolonged periods of office and administrative work
- Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and reach
- Must be able to work in greenhouse conditions, as well as in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain and snow
